Chapter 4 - Laboratory finishing room

The second lab room is the same size as the first and contains a 21/2×8 foot sink with temperature controls and vacuum breakers. In one corner is a large work counter with overhead lighting devoted to print spotting (dust removal).

Two and one half by eight foot utility sink used for chemical mixing and small print washing.

Dedicated silver print retouching work station. This area is used to remove tiny dust particles that sometimes attach to film or paper.

New 51 inch cold mount print press which now replaces my original 44×68 inch dry mount press. 51 inches by any length print!

Another work area holds a 51 inch cold mount rol⁷ler press for mounting finished photographs. This now replaces my original 44×68 inch heated dry mount press. Cold mounting is archival and uses no heat-much better for silver prints. Nearby is dry chemical storage and a custom made stainless steel 44×65 inch wash sink with timer, water temperature and flow controls. This room also contains a three stage master water filtration assembly necessary for spotlessly clean black and white prints.

Chemical storage area and a small microwave oven for drying of print test strips.

Custom designed and built 44×65 inch print washing sink with water filtering and temperature controls.
